On July 11 at 7:00 p.m., the PAiR residency in Pāvilosta will host the play “In Search of the Ocean” by author and former actor of the New Riga Theatre Matīs Ozols.
The play “In Search of the Ocean” is a personal and inspiring story about the courage to take risks, make uncomfortable decisions, and step outside your comfort zone in order to overcome a personality crisis. It is based on Matīs Ozols’ personal experience — the decision to give up a stable job, a familiar life, and material security to go to New Zealand, a corner of the world where no one could guarantee success, security, or a clear plan for the future.
This journey became a story not only about New Zealand, but also about the choice to live more courageously. About the moment when a person stops waiting for the right time and takes a step into the unknown.
Nowadays, when many people feel stuck in a routine, the show reminds us that change is possible. It inspires us to dare to change our profession, start a new project, fulfill a long-pending dream, or simply believe in ourselves more than before.
“In Search of the Ocean” combines personal experience, original music, humor, and touching life experiences, creating an event in which the audience not only listens to the story, but also finds a part of themselves in it.

Matīss Ozols is an author and former actor at the New Riga Theatre. He is known from the New Riga Theatre performances “Kordēlijas Zeme”, “Dublinieši Miera iela”, “Sievietes und Mārījus”, as well as the play “Pelēka vasara, saulaina ziema”, in which he played the main role. In the play “In Search of the Ocean”, Matīss will be on stage not in a character, but in his own story.
