On July 24 at 7:00 PM, PAiR Residency in Pāvilosta will host the performance “101” by the artist Ilze Mazpane, winner of the VV Foundation Award at the Interspace Festival.
We live in a time when time is constantly running out. But what exactly do we lack — time or the ability to experience it? The idea that a good life is as intense as possible, filled with experiences, opportunities, and continuous activity, creates a state in which a person’s relationship with the world becomes increasingly fragile, alienated, and lifeless.
In the performance “101,” one hundred and one glasses will become a measure of time, a material, and a witness. Through the presence of the body, repetition, and relationship with the environment, the performance will invite the viewer to simply be and observe how their own experience of time changes. The performance will last until the right time comes for it to end.
The performance “101” continues the PAiR residency’s interest in contemporary art practices that form close relationships with place, environment and the presence of the viewer. The event invites the residents and guests of Pāvilosta to experience an experience in which attention, waiting and observation become an essential part of the artwork.
