Katrīna Čemme

Katrīna Čemme (b.1989) Riga and presently residing in Vienna, Austria, is a contemporary artist whose oeuvre resides at the confluence of abstract sculpture, autonomous aesthetics, and site-specific installations. Her works, placed directly on floors, walls, or within passageways, transcend the visible and imperceptible aspects of their surroundings, harnessing architectural elements, light conditions, and the site’s intrinsic characteristics. Each project serves as a prism to contemplate the emotive, corporeal, and relational dimensions of space. Informed by cultural theoryand material functionality, Čemme employs techniques such as laser printing, adorning her sculptural compositions with open and closed crates, addressing issues of body, and environment.
