Carmith Shaï

After studying art and cinema in Paris, and collaborating for 12 years on sets and festivals, Carmith Shaï embarked on a second career and became a clinical art therapist with a degree from Lesley University (Cambridge USA). She works with various populations, children, adults and seniors, in private practice, in hospitals and in medico-social settings. In her practice, she uses visual and tactile art materials and guides people in engaging creative art processes working with the resulting works of art to foster transformation in individuals.

Her personal artistic practice is essentially printmaking and artist books. Carmith has chosen to live a sustainable life in Portugal. Her work lately is oriented towards nature-based eco art-therapy, including elements of nature and natural environment to her practice. During her residency at PAiR, Carmith will keep exploring the relationship to nature and creativity in the light of the Latvian culture.
